My '87 had the same problem, the original color was a dark metalic blue (beautiful color). The original owner ( a paint specialist)was tellin me this when I bought it last year. The only way he could fix it was to repaint it which he did a great job I might add, its Teal green and black 2 tone clearcoat. But maybe you could try a wax type stuff called "Color Back". It worked great on my '81 Mustang. Good luck and ride safe!
